At the start of my NaNoWriMo journey, I set a goal of revising the first four chapters of my novel. Took me about a week to realize that would only happen if I chose to ignore just about all of my other obligations — a choice I just wasn’t willing to make. By the middle of the month, I decided to change my priorities, and focus on the first two chapters.

Met that revised goal yesterday. September and October — both chapters still need work, but they’re much further along than they were a month ago. Satisfied? Not exactly, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be happy.

And I’m not done, either. The revision of chapter three, November, starts later today, and will continue until it reaches a similar roughly satisfying conclusion. Nine days, two weeks or three — maybe I’ll move on to chapter four when I’m done, maybe I’ll decide it’s time for a break. I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m eager to get started, and hope you enjoy the ride.
