NaNoWriMo 2019 Update

I’ve written every day in November for NaNoWriMo, and right now I’m at a little over thirty thousand words. That’ actually ahead of the pace needed to reach the goal of 50k words by the end of the month, but since I really want to take the Thanksgiving holiday weekend off, the mission I’ve set for myself is to bang out 2k words each of the next ten days. That means four, sometimes five hours of writing, which is a lot to fit into my schedule. Can I push through for ten more days? It’ll be interesting to find out.

  1. After you have ‘banged out’ all these words a question. How long will it then take you to weed out the chaff from all that is inspired and relevant? I’m fascinated by your passion. When I am
‘inspired’ words and writing simply flow. I do not count the words but…….even then…when I go back and re-read a couple of weeks later, much is simply passion with out substance. Interested in your thoughts and the thoughts of others. Congratulations for goal setting.

    • It takes a considerable amount of work to weed out the chaff from the first draft, much longer than actually writing the draft. But you have to reap before you separate the chaff, right? For now, I’m focused on the reaping, and will figure the rest out later.
