For My Parents

Your home was always open to prodigal friends.
Holidays were an excuse to celebrate the excess of your generosity,
Summer a time to lift spirits into the seat of God’s country.

Through a fortunate combination of happy circumstance
We are able to welcome a world much larger
Than you cared to imagine.

Our house is filled with laughter and music,
The joyous noise of a world, a people,
Recognizing its capacity for love.

None of this is possible without your example.
The crashing magnanimity of your shared heart humbles and inspires our hearts.
